The County Final Has Come!

March 11th, 2008 · No Comments

On the 10th of March 2008, Stocksbridge Junior School’s amazing Athletics Squad went to the South Yorkshire finals to compete for the title of the best team in South Yorkshire. The athletes went to the EIS (English Institute of sport) to hopefully win the most races as possible to get the most points and therefore earn the title of South Yorkshire winners! At the end of the competition, everyone who took part, sat nervously as the result were counted.  Amazingly, after about 6 years of SJS squads competing, WE WON!!!

Running For Victory!

March 11th, 2008 · No Comments

On Monday 10th March 2008, Some y6 pupils (and some y5) went along to the EIS, to compete in the South Yorkshire Indoor Athletics Finals. Eight schools had gone through to the finals (two from Barnsley, two from Sheffield, two from Doncaster and two from Rotherham); but sadly, only 7 showed up.
Jordan started us off with a clear first place in the one lap sprint.  As the boys were running like mad, the girls were also working their hardest on the field events. It was a great success!
After the boys, they had the old switcheroo, and the girls began to work their socks off on the track.  Amy C whizzed easily to the finish line to set the girls off on a role!  Jack (who had been brought into the squad especially for this event) threw hs javelin so far that the wall at the other end of the sports hall was the only thing to stop it from circling the world!
Finally, it came to the results.  As the places were being announced, everyone sat nervously with their fingers and toes crossed. …7…6…5…4…3…2…1… STOCKSBRIDGE JUNIORS! The crowd roared with excitement - it was the 1st time ever, that S.J.S had won. It was a truly great day! :-)

S.J.S victory

March 11th, 2008 · No Comments

S.J.S made a stunning performance yesterday at the English Institute of Sports in the South Yorkshire Indoor Athletics final.  Our school has been amazing at each of the rounds so faras everyone has tried their absolute hardest to do their bit as a part of the team.  The work paid off; we won!!!!!!! Everyone was nervous as the commentator revealed the places from 7th to 1st place.  We couldn’t believe it when it was only the two Sheffield schools left for 1st and 2nd places, even moreso when he read us out for 1st place! Well, everyone in our school now says, “We’re the best team in South Yorkshire!” All the athletics teams are surely going to cherish the memories forever.

Athletics Competition

img_1933.jpg

On Thursday 31st January 2008 the Links Final of the Sheffield Indoor Athletics was held at the English Institute of Sport.  There were 7 schools altogether which included Phillimore, St John’s, norfolk, Sharrow & Deepcar.  At first everybody was very nervous and giddy but soon calmed down and got down to business when Mrs G gave us our teamtalk.  The boys went first on the track whilst the girls did there field events brilliantly.  The boys even won all but one of their racess!  At half time all the girls were nervous because so many people would be watching them run.  just like the boys, the girls managed to win most of their races!  After all of the races the organiser got us all together to read out the results - when he got to third place he still hadn’t read us out.  The top two places go through to the next round so when he read that Norfolk were third, we all whooped with joy.  Amazingly, with 180 points, we came first!  We recieved a trophy to keep, and a shield to keep for the year plus a minature trophy!

The City Final is on Friday 29th February so fingers crossed!!!

SAM Learning!!!

February 4th, 2008 · No Comments

SAM learning has been a great new thing for SATs revision for Year 6. Miss W first introduced us to SAM learning 30th January 2008 and now loads of people have logged in to complete activities at home. Miss W even spotted that a Year 6 pupils little brother (Year 4) had logged in himself to have a look!  This great site has been scientifically proven to help y6 children do better in their SATs although we’ve been told we still have to do our other homework - this is as well as.  The y6 teachers think it really will help the children to go and get the level 5 they need!

Gymnastics Competition

January 18th, 2008 · No Comments

On Thursday 17th January 2008 Stocksbridge Junior  School Gymnastics team went to All Saints College to compete in tournament. We went in two teams of five with a reserve and a mascot. We each performed a floor routine and a vault sequence. We did so well that both teams received awards and altogether we managed to get through to the next round. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without Miss Freeman our coach so thank you very much from all of the squad!

Athletics Competition

January 18th, 2008 · No Comments

A carefully selected squad of Y5 and Y6 children took part in the first round (Links Cluster) Sheffield Schools Athletics Competition on Tuesday 15th January 2008.  It took place at Stocksbridge High School, where we competed against two other schools; sadly, Oughtibridge were unable to make it. We each did field events (things like long jump, the speed bounce and the seated throw) and also competed in a variety of track races. To get through to the next round we had to pick up as many point as possible so we had to to win lots of races - in fact, we won them all! When they announced the final scores we had 81 points; 30 points ahead of second place! We all cheered and some of us cried… happy tears of course!

When I got to work I parked in a disappointing parking place Typical miles away from the door! when I eventually got in I found the boss was a sleep so I read a magazine all day. when he got up at the end of my shift he said nothing and carried on.And I thought today would be boring!!!

The Diary of Humpty Dumpty

September 28th, 2007 · Comments Off

29th September 2007

Dear diary,

Today was the worst day of my life! I had to pretend to be a stupid egg who sits on a wall and falls off- I mean, please, who would believe that an egg falls off a wall into several pieces? But for the sake of my job, I fell off the wall- it hurt so much i cried like a baby for ages, I hate my job!

I had been sent to spy on the King’s horses and men- out of all the spies in the agency why me, everyone else always has easy jobs, I’m always stuck with the top secret missions! The King’s men came down the street to help me- it was nothing dramatic, it looked like they were having a leisurely stroll down the road.If I’d seen anything like that I’d be down the road in a flash!

By lunchtime I laid injured in a hospital bed. My body was in pieces (literally) and i was in terrible pain! The King’s men couldn’t care less that I was ill. They started whispering - maybe it’s their plan to take over the world, I don’t know, it could be couldn’t it?

Well now I’m laying here- I still hate my job! I’m still ill- and nobody cares about me! Today has been very eventful- I wonder what tomorrow will bring. For now goodbye!

You’ll never guess what I did today, I went to James’s eparment and then we went shoplifting! Wicked. We didn’t steal much though because the police turned up at the last minute so we let the staff go and legged it before we got arrested! By the time I got home earlier this evening I went to the chinese just down the road because I couldn’t be bovered to cook and I was so hungry I ate my dinner in minutes. At about eleven’o'clock I was getting tired but I was trying to stay awake as long as possible so I went for a drive in my brand new monster truck.

Dear Diary,

Sorry diary I know you’ve heard it before but today started like every other day(oh I hate those snooze buttons).Slowly, I plodded down the decrepit, half broken stairs.Oi mother whats for breakfast. It was bran flakes…again.Suddenly remembering that today was tag-rugby day at the park, with one hand in my pocket,I lobbed my breakfast at the wall.

Hastily, I sprinted up the stairs to get dressed. The only thing left in my wardrobe was that stupid green sweater nan knitted me last Christmas, I shoved it on and went for my escape.I silently crept down-stairs ‘creak’ stupid step gets me every time.

The Diary Of Shaggy

September 28th, 2007 · Comments Off

Dear Diary

Friday 3th July 2000

You’ll never guess what happened today? Woke up this morning in a bad mood. Smashed my alarm clock because it woke me up to early. It all changed when I got a phone call( as usual it was my friends).

I went to investigate a mystery, like I always do, sometimes I get bore of solving a mystery every day. Scooby-Doo gave me a great big hug, I love it when he gives me a hug like that. We had to go in the mystery inc van, it always makes me feel sick, I hate it. When we got there I was time for lunch, Scooby-Doo had a great big sandwich, it looked disgusting, I was nearly sick.

When we went to the City Hall a great big pterodactyl flew over us and stole some of the dimonds, which were placed on a stand, it gave me a great shock. i couldn’t believe my eyes.

Now it is late I better get to bed, and who knows what will happen tomorrow. Bye!

27 September 2007

Dear MR diary  me and Teddy have been walking today when we saw a man crying a lement to the whole of England (even though we havent done anything),well…..not yet anyway however he seemed to sooth my ears . I could defently tell that Teddy was Apsolutly hateing every minute of the furious mans voice.Suddenly Teddy sprang out of my hands like a rocket at top speed and i jumped and fell to the ground and i still have a nasty bruse from the shock. Unexspectidly Teddy pulled out a gun and shot the man and with a bang he fell to the ground although its was with a TT W water pistol. After the trick what i did’nt pull we legged it!!!Because the cops had already delt with us before in the past way back in 2001 for Teddys notorius shoplifting plan. I better be off there still looking for us!!!!!!!!.AMOS pol Rovira Wilde

The Diaries of Wimpy Bond

September 28th, 2007 · Comments Off

Thursday 27th September

It all started today when I was at work (the Co-op). There was this one man who came strolling in like he was King of the World. When I went up to him to see if he wanted any assistance, the first thing he could say was thatI looked like a pig ugly woman who who strolled around as if was the best in the world. The CHEEK! For starters I’m a MAN! Second of all I don’t stroll and if I did (which I don’t) then at least I don’t think the sun shineds out of my behind. It was a right storm in a teacup. I’m sure it will blow over.

The next day, I went back to work and there was a blooming thug with a gun. I had to get that annoying thug with my water pistol. The feeling was really cool! The thrill! I had to get the water pistol from under the counter then I squirted it into his eyes. The nuisance shook around like a madman! Eventually the cops came and arrested the maniac. Anyway night, night; my mummy’s tucking me in.

Night diary.
