Our New Teacher

February 4th, 2008 · No Comments

Just before Christmas, our Y4 teacher left us to go and have her baby and a new teacher came along.  At first some of us  thought she was a little mean when she came into school but actually she is beautiful, nice and kind.   We were surprised  that she isn’t mean because some supply teachers can be although she can get mad when you don’t do as you’re told!

Diaries

February 4th, 2008 · No Comments

In literacy we have been writing diaries about a story called The Windmill. It’s about two boys called Andrew and David. Their family is called the Dolton Family so they are called the Dolton Brothers. The boys went to stay with their grandad’s friend’s farm where they’d been lots of times before. The old man, Old Rusty, had bright red hair but he only had one leg but in the story it said he used a cruch like a second leg  .He also looked after goats.  He had a massive goat farm then the council decided to build a Windmill on the farm. Rusty didn’t like technology he thought the windmill was a bad idea but they built it anyway.  The boys were worried about the caves they liked playing in.  They put three wings on the windmill and when the boys woke up they saw that there was a fourth wing on the Windmill.  It looked like a space ship or a giant bat wing or a wasp wing.

Writing Week in Year 4

January 18th, 2008 · No Comments

During writing week in Year 4 we have been writing our own stories based on a picture book called Blodin the Beast. We had to pick a name for our characters then pick what Hosea (the little boy) took with him on his journey through the mountains, the jungle and the desert. We also had to figure out what equipment to use to destroy the monster. We had early literacy lessons and extra literacy lessons all to try and finish our story of Blodin the beast. Thankfully Miss S was on hand to help us improve our sentences.

Newspapers

November 27th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Our class Y4S have been learning about newspaper reports.  We have learned where things go and how to write a newspaper report.  In ICT we wrote a report about Cinderella running away from the ball.  My headline says ‘Mystery Beauty leaves Prince Heartbroken’.  We have also been making a newspaper ourselves by using word art to make the title, and coloumns fo the report.  We also inserted a picture.

This year’s sponsored event

July 2nd, 2007 · Comments Off

This year’s sponsored event

This year’s sponsered event was a penalty shoot out with Steve Adams a former Sheffield Wednesday player. The cause for the sponsered event was to raise money for sport equipment for the school. There was also a a sum of money to ensure a education for a child in Kenya . A sum of money was donated to Bluebell hospice.

The Y6’s were the first to participate, they had to be split into two teams the aim as you may or may not know was to score as maany goal against the opposing team.  We had to shoot against miss willats (she even saved Alex’s shots!) and others against miss sheehan.

y4 tudor portraits

March 6th, 2007 · Comments Off

In y4 we have been doing tudor portraits. Y4 have been drawring tudor monachs. (Henry VIII) We could either do Mary I, Edward VI, Elizebeth I, Henry VIII or Henry VII. It was the best thing in y4’s tudor topic. We used a 2b drawring pencil. It was lots and lots of fun we couldn’t use colours so we had to shade in. First we had to decide which kind of paper to use, you could either use A4 or A3 paper. The Y4’s had a good time drawing and the pictures are great! When they have been mounted, we’ll post a picture for you to appreciate them too!

Making torch models in D.T

December 11th, 2006 · Comments Off

In D.T y4 have been making torch models with cardboard tubes and coloured paper. First we designed the torches then we decided which colours to have. When we made the torches some of us made changes to them. When we had finished we put them on a shelf and it looked really cool. The good thing about them is everyone did some thing different.  There were snowmen torches, poilce torches and even a torce with a poem on it! It was all fun.

Playing the trumpet!

November 27th, 2006 · Comments Off

On a Tuesday Y4b, play instruments such as a trumpets and clarinets. The teachers are Miss. P, Mr D and Mr S. It is hard to play the trumpet because you have to make a buzzing sound. This is the only class in  the whole school that get to play the instruments. The fun thing about playing is you get to play this copy game at the end but if the teachers do the same sound you can’t do it.  Hopefully, some of us will carry on learning to play these instruments after Year 4!

Class Assembly for Parents

November 6th, 2006 · Comments Off

Near the start of the year, y4 did a class assembly in front of parents. It was about circuits and who invented the electric lightbulb. We sang a song at the end called you’ve got to have a circuit. The first bit went a bit like this you have got to have a circuit that how it goes.

Parents really liked it and there was refresments at the end and hopefully they learned somthing too!
