Our school has a huge new fish tank in the entrance hall! It was very exiting when it arived because nobody was expecting it. It arrived one afternoon last week but didn’t have any fish it it for about a week. Now there are twelve fish in it that are three breeds that all like to live in cold water. One of the breeds is a goldfish. The school is having a competiton to see who can think of the best names - Mr H thinks that the best name is Peter.

School Council
February 4th, 2008 · No Comments
In school council we are thinking of having a sponsored event to see how many bounces you can do in three minutes and people can put money on peopole that they think will do the most bounces. We are also thinking about having an assembly which they anounce the star of the week, house points and we were thinking about cloakroom awards again. We might have handwriting awards too. We don’t know if we will have lunchtime awards and break time awards.

Year 3 Bugs
November 28th, 2007 · No Comments
This week we have started looking at poetry and our very first literacy lesson was with Miss W in the ICT suite. We looked at a poem called Bug Chant and had to record it using Audacity. I was in a group with Jack and Callum from yellow group and Katie from red group. We split up the verses and practised a few times to check we knew who was reading what.
Have a listen to our very first recording. Next time, I think we need to ask everyone in the background to be very quiet!
I had great fun recording my voice even though I sound wierd! I’m looking forward to writing my own verses for Bug Chant next week.

Romans
November 27th, 2007 · No Comments
In Year 3, we’ve been learning lots of facts about the Romans:
The romans built a very long wall to stop the celts from attacking their Land. The celts were the Romans enimes. The Romans came from a city called Rome. The Celts didn’t like the Romans because they were taking over where the Celts lived and it wasn’t fair. The Romans built a wall to keep the Celts away.

The Year 3s have been learning how to record and manipulate sound.
Using a piece of software called ‘Audacity’, the children recorded a nursery rhyme then used some of the effects to change the way their voices sound.
See if you can identify which of these effects have been used:
~ amplify
~ change pitch
~ change speed
~ change tempo
~ echo
~ repeat
~ reverse
~ wahwah

June 19th, 2007 · Comments Off
Recently we had healthy week. During healthy week we had things such as: skipping workshop, lets go kids, fruit tasting and basket ball. The first thing we had was skipping workshop ,which was run by George. He taught everyone loads of good tricks at first he started with basic foward and backward skips. At the end of the day he picked people who were really good at diffrent skips to put on a skipping show with him. During the week we did fruit tasting. There was about fifteen diffrent fruits that were layed out on tables for you to walk past and taste after tasting the fruit we could pick our five favourite food and make a fruit cocktail. After fruit tasting we had to get our kits on ready for basketball . The man who ran basket was called paul he did a warm up with us then we just shooted baskets . On the last day we did Lets Go Kids we did activites including the parachute. There was a cheerleader who did a dance performance.

Y3 Circus Workshop
March 6th, 2007 · Comments Off
Today a circus came to school we did all sorts of things like spinning plates, juggling, stilts and pedals. The man who came worked at a company called JOKER. And we all took it in turns to play with each piece of equipment . Then we came out for dinner and went back in for another half an hour.Thankfully, Martin didn’t bring any circus clowns because Miss D is very scared of them!

History

In our history topic we learnt about anglo-saxons we learnt that they need to live near a river so that they can get food and water and use the water to cook and they only used to have little houses instead of using bricks they used wood.
The Anglo-Saxons lived in houses with thached roofs and instead of having doors they had gaps instead. They used to have special animals to help them plough the fields.
We can’t wait to learn about the Romans next term!

Y3 Seed Collecting
November 13th, 2006 · Comments Off
On our seed collecting trip we had to recognise diffrerent trees by rubbing on different trees. When we had finished, we walked down to the bench and collected fallen acorns. We carried our acorns back up the steep hill to school but the journey didn’t end there because we had to plant our acorns in compost. Our acorns are in the quad outside our classroom. Hopefully we will see them grow into oak trees.
