Making Sculptures

November 27th, 2006 · Comments Off

In the y5 topic art we have been making paper sculptures. In Y5K they have been making mythical creatures. After they had made the sculptures we wrote a story about them.  We have also sketched our scultpures and written evaluations about how well we have done.  Mine was called Tonguezilla!

History

In our history topic we learnt about anglo-saxons we learnt that they need to live near a river so that they can get food and water and use the water to cook and they only used to have little houses instead of using bricks they used wood.

The Anglo-Saxons lived in houses with thached roofs and instead of having doors they had gaps instead. They used to have special animals to help them plough the fields.

We can’t wait to learn about the Romans next term!

Playing the trumpet!

November 27th, 2006 · Comments Off

On a Tuesday Y4b, play instruments such as a trumpets and clarinets. The teachers are Miss. P, Mr D and Mr S. It is hard to play the trumpet because you have to make a buzzing sound. This is the only class in  the whole school that get to play the instruments. The fun thing about playing is you get to play this copy game at the end but if the teachers do the same sound you can’t do it.  Hopefully, some of us will carry on learning to play these instruments after Year 4!

World War II Y6 Play

Recently in year 6, we have perormed a World War II play based on ‘Bombs and Blackberries’ for our parents. The play was about a family from Sheffield whose children get evacuated to the country during the heavy bombing.  The children were very homesick so their mother came to rescue them from the nasty housekeeper of Kite Hall, unfortunately the phoney war was phoney no longer.

Throughout the performance we sang a variety of songs including: Run rabbit run, Hang out the washing on the Siegfried line and We’ll meet again. At the end , we drew the raffle for the GIANT Toblerone. Thomas K (y6) was the lucky winner!
